Lumora Story
A university professor once visited a Zen master to learn about wisdom.
The professor spoke constantly about theories, books he had read, and ideas he already understood.
The Zen master quietly prepared tea.
He began pouring tea into the professor's cup.
The cup filled, but the master kept pouring.
The tea overflowed, spilling onto the table and onto the floor.
'Stop,' the professor said. 'The cup is full. No more will go in.'
The Zen master set the teapot down and said, 'Like this cup, your mind is full of your own opinions and conclusions.'
He looked at the professor and smiled.
'How can I show you wisdom unless you first empty your cup?'
Lesson
Growth begins when we make space to learn. A mind that is always full has no room for new ideas.
Action Step
Today, listen to someone without preparing your response. Just try to understand.
